Only if you intend to import drugs, currency or bootleg perfume.

Ring the sheriff and ask if it is OK for you to fly/flee to NZ. I'm pretty sure he will say you can go.

A surprising number of people can afford to jet about the planet but can't afford to pay their fines, then want free advice about how to handle a problem that is wholly contained within their own imagination.
Customs does not check warrants, they check for prohibited imports/exports.
Immigration are the ones who check people's visas and passports.
The sheriff enforces warrants of arrest for unpaid fines.

I know that the sheriff scans cars at shopping centres looking for people who havent paid fines

How is this for a idea

Create a check point at all Jetstar and Air Asia check ins located at Melbourne airports for people on there way to Bali looking for people with outstanding warrants

Would make a killing I think :)

Interesting, but it is a grey area whether the sheriff has power to arrest someone for unpaid fines at an airport. Maybe someone could read the COPAL Act and let us know what it says about that!

Yeah because they can clamp their vehicle

I cant see Airservices Australia being happy about passenger jets being clamped because a Ciggybut Brain passenger has a few unpaid Citylink toll fines.

The major shopping centers of Victoria don't care why would the Airport parking companies care
