Hoddle St/ Victoria parade intersection red light

Postby coulsonmo » Thu Aug 23, 2018 12:03 am

Hi all,
hoping for some help!
I was travelling north from Hoddle st, turning left into victoria st (parade) to join the main traffic?
I got really confused with the traffic/lights and signs at the little intersection thing and drove up to the dotted line, rather than stopping a few metres back at the fixed line. I have read many forums about the red light camera for people turning into Victoria parade from Hoddle travelling south (the big intersection), however not sure if it captures you on the one lane left turn from hoddle into Victoria? I looked on google street view and it seems the cameras are focused on the major intersection however i thought I would ask for some clarification. Hoping to appeal if it comes to it just to push the payment back as I'm sure its a nasty amount.

(Tasmanian haha)

Sounds like you have not received any infringement notice?
The cameras get evryone who runs a red light or a red arrow.

I have done the same today.
The left turning arrow appeared and disappeared whilst the main light remains red and unchanged.
I thought it indicates a good to go.
No light flashed.

It was really confusing and misleading.
If the intention was to stop any cars turn left whilst the main light is red. why should they brought a sequence of red turning arrow during the middle.

Anyone else had similar issue?

No, I don't find red arrows or green arrows confusing. But I do see a lot of people stop for a red arrow and then remain stopped at a green light after the red arrow has turned off.
It is not my job to work out why an arrow has turned on or off - I just have to comply regardless of the reason.

Is there any green turning arrows? I could only see red turning arrow and otherwise the signal is blank and without any light.

If you are facing a red light you must not enter the intersection except if you are turning in the direction of a green arrow.
