Hi
I have just got a new euro vehicle and as such the Australian plates dont fit properly.
Now I was thinking of buying the euro style design from vic roads but my current numbering isnt will not match so.i would have to buy the whole thing at $500 which is ridiculous.
So I had a look at the vicroads site and they claim that the plate must come from them. However I had a very quick loom through the road traffic act and I couldnt immediately see any reference as to who the manufacturer of the plate has to be.
I guess where I am going with this is... is there anything illegal about getting the euro style plate made by a specialist plate maker in the UK which exactly mimics the correct design, font etc and having my numbers on it?
If its not ok what is the fine likely to be?

Re: Number Plates
You need to have a plate issued by vicroads.

The fine for not having a plate attached is minor compared to the 3 points you will get if police fine you.
