Infringement on hold for 9 months

Postby OnHold » Thu Mar 26, 2020 10:46 pm

Hi,

Can anyone shed some light on the average wait time for fines you've asked to be reviewed?

9 months and waiting (not complaining!!) but it seems like an awfully long time...

I had no idea I had outstanding fines (issued Feb '19), when I discovered them they were already at Final Demand stage. I immediately (panicked!) requested a review based on the fact I didn't know about them...

Do fines expire or even potentially be on hold forever? Drop out of the system?

I don't want to contact them and bring it back to their attention!!

Thanks

They won't disappear.
If you contact them don't be surprised if they claim they sent you a letter 8 months ago.
Enforcement reviews are very unlikely to get you anywhere unless you come under special circumstances and have the proof. They are not good at recognising any of the other grounds for review. Also, the legislation is very limiting on what comes within the review criteria. Anyone who "didn't know" about their fines should immediately make an application for an extension of time to a Magistrates Court instead of seeking enforcement review.
