15 year old Vic Traffic history in QLD

Postby Tom C » Sat Mar 23, 2019 10:49 am

Hi,
I have been living in QLD for about 15 years, previously in 2003-2004 I was living in Melbourne and had my licence suspended for a month ( 34k's over).
I have just received an infringement in QLD and only in QLD. Sitting in my car in a carpark with engine running "using my phone". ( in park & handbrake on)
I plan to contest it -
Can the QLD police check my previous Vic history??
Had no issue changing my licence to one in QLD & not a single infringemnet or anything since.
Thankyou,

You don't mention where you were in the carpark. I find it hard to believe you would have been issued an infringement notice in the circumstances you describe IF you were actually in a parking space in the carpark!

No one cares whether or not they can check your vic history.
Of course they can.
If you were parked you will win.
If you were stationary but not parked you will probably lose.

Thanx Hardy, I was stopped in a park at shops down a service road, in park & handbrake on.
QLD is a 'lil' backwards compared to Melbourne.
I do miss Melbourne but my kids live up here & I have to do it.
Thanks again

It makes no difference at all whether your engine was running, your gear is in park, your handbrake is on, seat belt is on etc etc.
The only thing that matters is whether the car was stopped to comply with a road rule (stationary but not parked) or it was stopped without any such obligation (parked).
