About Police Check NPC

Postby Nes » Mon Jan 09, 2012 1:09 pm

I have had a one excessive speed fine, did 130 in 100 zone in a country road,
I paid the fine and never realised that this met I get a conviction.

Now that I have got my first job, they are conducting a security clearance so to see if I would be
eligible to access certain police systems and justice systems.

I am extremely worried that this one conviction could make me ineligible and my offer would be withdrawn

Should I be worried?? could this one offence come to haunt me???

by the way offence was committed in 2009

If you paid the fine then you won't have a criminal conviction.

Don't worry about the security clearance, just declare the speeding fine if needed and it should be fine. The general concern with security clearances is often more about not declaring stuff then, actually having minor convictions.

An infringement notice for speeding at 130 in a 100 zone imposes a conviction on you after 28 days even if you don't pay the fine. This is stated on the infringement notice itself. That conviction will appear on your vicroads traffic history. It will not appear on a criminal history check.

Thank you very much Leo and Hardy for the reply.
That made me relax a bit :D

Leo they didn't ask me to disclose anything just gave me a form to fill out saying that
I agree to have my criminal history checked, and that I waive the right to have my spent convictions not showing on the record.

Thank you once aging
